The right-back's deal at Meadow Lane ends on Saturday and he is set to return to Nottingham Forest.

Executive chairman Peter Trembling has indicated his desire to keep the defender but he fears the 20-year-old has played his last game for the club.

Captain John Thompson returned for their 4-1 defeat of Burton Albion on Monday after suffering from illness that would have kept him out of the postponed Boxing Day match with Grimsby. He could deputise at right-back.

Defender Jamie Clapham is still missing with a knee injury but Johnnie Jackson is set to retain his place in midfield having returned to the starting XI against Burton after a month out with a knee injury.

Caretaker boss Dave Kevan told the club's official website: "There is nothing new (injuries) from Monday's game. We are reasonably healthy and in good spirits and are looking forward to the game."
