McParland unhappy with spot-kicks

Jamie Lowry beat Russell Hoult twice from the spot in quick succession in the second half before Mike Edwards halved County's deficit with seven minutes remaining. Captain John Thompson brought down Jack Lester, a summer transfer target of McParland, for the Spireites' first penalty after 77 minutes and Stephen Hunt felled Drew Talbot in the box three minutes later. "The referee was right in line with the first one and didn't give it - the linesman gave it. He was dying to put his flag up all night," said McParland. "And I think the second one was definitely not a penalty." McParland admitted he was relieved it was goalless at half-time after his side were put under immense pressure. He was critical of his side's defending and demands an improvement when Dagenham visit Meadow Lane on Saturday. "We didn't play well at all," he added. "We were second to the ball and couldn't get anything going for some reason and I was delighted at the break as we could regroup. I will be looking for a response from the players."
