McParland targets attacking duo

McParland, whose job is reportedly secure if a proposed multi-million pound takeover of the club from Middle East consortium Munto Finance Ltd goes through, claims the club must not get carried away. "These are exciting times and I can well understand the reaction of supporters. I'm very excited about it myself and I really hope the deal goes through smoothly," he told County's official website. One of McParland's main summer targets is Billy Clarke, who was released by new Ipswich boss Roy Keane last month. However, McParland was not giving much away, saying: "I've spoken to the agent of one proven striker who is out of contract and the manager of another. We will have to see what develops but I've registered an interest, and the more possibilities there are the better I like it. "Our top priority is to bring in people who will score a lot more goals for us than we got from our front players last season, and most of the phone calls I've made since I got back from holiday have been with that in mind. I'm optimistic that by the time our players report back on July 1, we will have a number of new additions to the squad."
