Stanley surged ahead in the first half thanks to a James Ryan strike, but Delroy Facey's 73rd-minute header gave County a share of the spoils at Meadow Lane.
McParland fumed: "Once we equalised I thought we would go on and win it but we didn't play at all in the first half which was not acceptable.
"Accrington showed a lot more energy than us and had a right go as they got a goal and had an effort cleared off the line.
"We were much better in the second half but I'm still not happy with it. There are people out there fighting for their lives and we just didn't show enough.
"I didn't pat them on the back when they went in at the finish. I said I was not going to do so because we needed a lot more from them," he added.
