Magpies set for training ground

County are confident that their new base at Beeston in Nottingham will be ready for the start of next season and are hoping that the deal can be completed shortly so that the area can be renovated in good time to create a perfect surface for pre-season. "I couldn't be more pleased. I think it is essential to have our own training base," said Magpies manager Ian McParland. "We never had it when I was a player here and one of my priorities when I came back was to change that. "At the moment, there is uncertainty every morning about where we are going to train and the quality of the surface we will be working on, and that is not right. "It is unprofessional and psychologically, it affects the players. If they have decent facilities and a good surface to work on, it acts as an incentive for them to work better. "I am really excited about this development. It will be a massive step forward to be in control of our own destiny on a daily basis, with no-one else dictating when and where we can train."
