Magpies make move for Westcarr

Westcarr, 24, who made just three appearances for Forest before leaving the City Ground to join Cambridge in 2005, has agreed a return to the Football League after spending the last three seasons with the Poppies. "I've known Craig for a long time having worked with him at Nottingham Forest, and I don't think he has come even close to fulfilling his potential," Magpies manager Ian McParland told the club's official website. He knows this is his big chance. We are offering him a lifeline and, although he's taking a pay cut to come and join us, he will get his rewards if he does the business. "He's a different type of player to those we have already and will offer us competition for places on both flanks and down the middle. "I think his best position is as a central striker and apart from having the ability to deliver a great ball from set-plays, he's a good footballer with plenty of pace who can score goals." Westcarr follows midfielders Ricky Ravenhill and Neal Bishop in agreeing a move to Meadow Lane this week.
