Magpies look to sign up Lester

The Magpies were taken over by Middle East consortium Munto Finance this week and Trembling has vowed to support McParland. League Two neighbours Chesterfield are weighing up the offer for the player, who only signed a contract extension in June. "I spoke to Peter Trembling and he has put a bid in to Chesterfield for Jack Lester, which I believe is a bold move," McParland told County's official website. "He has been a prolific goalscorer over the last few years and I think making a bid for him shows that we are quite ambitious. "I have worked with Jack in the past and I know him inside out, so I hope we can get him because he would fit the bill perfectly for us." Lester, 33, has scored 50 goals in 80 appearances for the Spireites since moving to Saltergate from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2007.
