However, Armstrong-Holmes has slammed this week's leak and revealed it could have a detrimental effect on the ongoing talks.
"I have my suspicions about who first brought the information into the public domain. It was certainly not in the best interests of Notts County football club," he told the club's official website.
"Once it was clear the story had broken it was only sensible for me to confirm the interest because rumours were flying around that were way off the mark.
"I am bound by a legal confidentiality agreement from discussing details and I fully intend to abide by that. But I have to admit it's extremely unfortunate that irresponsible talk by someone has caused information to leak out because there's a real danger it could jeopardise negotiations at this stage."
