Jones in squad to face Valiants
The Magpies have signed the Wolves midfielder on loan until January with a view to joining the League Two club on a permanent basis.
Jones, who has made eight first-team appearances for Wolves since coming through Wanderers' youth ranks, has had loan spells at Northampton and Oldham in the previous two seasons.
Manager Ian McParland said: "He's got lots of energy, he can head it and is a good addition to the squad. He's young, hungry and he wants to do well."
Jones could be thrown straight into action against Vale with Stephen Hunt (groin) out and Jamie Clapham (hamstring) a doubt.
