Johnson hopes for swift appointment

The Magpies began life after Ian McParland, who was sacked six days ago, with a goalless draw at promotion rivals Rotherham. "Hopefully the powers that be will appoint a manager soon because everyone needs to know," said Johnson. "It's an issue where everyone is on tenterhooks at the moment and it can be unsettling, but as we have seen here, the boys have just got on with it in a professional way." On the game at the Don Valley Stadium, Johnson added: "Luke Rodgers came off the bench and had a couple of good chances and on another day he would have scored, but it was still a very good performance against a very stubborn and well organised team."
