Hughes to see specialist
Notts County striker Lee Hughes will see a consultant this week about his hip injury.
Hughes, who was the club`s leading scorer with 33 goals as Notts lifted the League Two title last season, has started just six games this campaign because of the problem.
The 34-year-old is set to try pain-killing injections to help him play, but manager Craig Short has warned that if those fail Hughes will need an operation that could rule him out for a considerable length of time.
"We need to do something because his season has been badly disrupted by it already," said Short. "He has done well when he has played so we need to get him sorted out as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, Short hopes that fellow forward Ben Davies` calf injury responds to injections so an operation can be avoided.
"He has really been struggling with it and hasn't been able to train. It has reached the point where every time he tries to train he breaks down," said Short. "Hopefully it will settle down with injections so we can get him back playing because he is such an important player for us. Fingers crossed it goes well for him and he does not need an operation."
