Gow targets permanent first-team spot

Notts County striker Alan Gow believes he can add a new dimension to the Magpies' attack following his arrival on a deal until the end of the season. The Glasgow-born 28-year-old was thrown in at the deep end when he made his full debut for County in their goalless draw at Southampton after the club's joint-leading scorer Lee Hughes suffered a calf injury the day before the game at St Mary's. And Gow told the Nottingham Evening Post: "I enjoyed my debut. Southampton are probably one of the best teams in the league and we produced a good team performance to get a draw. "I only found out I was playing on Saturday morning so I was thrown in at the deep end but I enjoyed playing in such a big game. "I can see from one game the players here are very talented and I'm determined to do my bit. "I want to be in the team every week now. There are a lot of strikers at the club but I'm a bit different to them, so hopefully I can bring something different to the team. I can play midfield sometimes as well."
