County look elsewhere for striker
The Scot publicly admitted he was trying to bring Clarke to Meadow Lane, but the 21-year-old opted to sign for Blackpool at the end of last week.
McParland told the club's website: "We tried our hardest to convince him to come here, but Championship football is hard to turn down.
"Behind-the-scenes we are working very hard to bring someone in capable of scoring 20 or more goals for us.
"It is a case of moving on and working our way down the list."
