County lifeline for midfielder Ad
Nowland was told last week he would not be offered a new contract, but boss Ian McParland will allow the 27-year-old midfielder to join pre-season training and build up his fitness following a back operation last month.
McParland told the club's official website: "As Adam showed what he can do [when] he was fully fit during the season, and having worked with him in the past, I know what he's capable of.
"During the early part of the season and also in January Adam was in fine form and he was unfortunate to suffer injuries at key times.
"He may come back for pre-season. If he does and he does well we will have a look how things are shaping up and take things from there."
County have announced three home pre-season friendlies against Nottingham Forest (July 25), Derby (July 28) and a Liverpool XI (July 31).
