And with the club the subject of a proposed takeover by Middle East consortium Munto Finance Ltd, chairman John Armstrong-Holmes is confident sales could exceed the 3,000 mark. "Season-ticket sales got away to a very slow start and in all honestly, that was only to be expected," Armstrong-Holmes told the Evening Post. "But we extended the early bird deadline to give fans every chance to take advantage of the discount prices after the takeover bid was announced, and we are delighted at the way they have responded. "Ticket office staff have been extremely busy over the past couple of weeks and there is a real buzz around the place. It is fantastic to see all the enthusiasm among supporters. "Season-tickets remain on sale, of course, and as the exciting plans for the future begin to unfold, we are very hopeful that the total will exceed 3,000 by the time the new campaign kicks off in August."
