County face winding-up petition

The petition, issued by the HM Revenue and Customs against County's parent company Blenheim 1862 Limited, will be heard at the Royal Courts of Justice on January 27.

Notts County chairman Peter Trembling, who bought the club for £1 from Munto Finance in December, admitted he was aware the petition was coming.

He told the Nottingham Post: "We were aware of it before Christmas and it is something we could not avoid.

"We have got money coming in but HMRC pressed the button before Christmas. We would be worried if we were not going to get funds to sort it out. The funds will be in in plenty of time.

"We are trying to get the release of funds from commitments made in the management buy-out and new investment as well. Investors are aware of the petition.

"It is a serious issue but one we are aware of. We believe we are in control of it and hope to appease all our creditors by a week on Friday."

The previous petition was dismissed after Munto Finance settled a six-figure tax debt, which had been accrued before they took control at Meadow Lane.
