County boss challenges Jackson

The former Tottenham and Colchester schemer started only his second game in the heart of the Magpies' midfield in the 5-2 thumping of managerless Northampton. But Jackson, 27, has featured on the left flank during McParland's tenure and the Magpies boss has warned the midfielder he is battling it out with Ricky Ravenhill and Neal Bishop for a central role following Matt Ritchie's arrival on loan from Portsmouth. "Now we have got Matt Ritchie, it's up to Johnnie to fight it out with Ricky and Bish in the central area," he told the Nottingham Evening Post. "I will still have no hesitation about playing him on the left again, with Ricky and Bish in the centre. "But his best position is in the middle, where he can have the biggest impact."
