Bury stormed into a 2-0 lead through Daniel Nardiello and Andy Morrell, only for a Lee Hughes double to bring County level before the break and when Stephen Dawson's superb 50th-minute strike looked set to win it for the hosts, County could have claimed all three points after Ritchie's late leveller.
"Normally when you play away and you are 2-0 down inside 20 minutes, it's really tough to come back," said Backe. "But the way we responded was really good for the future.
"It was an incredible game, I thought there was going to be 10 goals. And even at 3-3 I thought there would be more goals because I thought both teams would go for the win.
"Lee Hughes had a fantastic chance and their goalie made a magnificent save so I think we finished off stronger than Bury."
