Salisbury impress Calderwood
04 Dec 2006 - 09:08:10
Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood was quick to praise Salisbury City's display as the FA Cup second round clash between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw.
Nathan Tyson had fired the former European Cup winners into a first-half lead, but the Conference South side hit back to earn a replay at the City Ground when Matt Tubbs grabbed an equaliser.
Calderwood was pleased with his side's display though, saying: "It was almost a perfect FA Cup tie in difficult conditions. We dug in and things were going quite nicely in the first half.
"There was nothing negative about the way Salisbury played, they were efficient and have good players in certain areas. We'll have to do better at the City Ground.
"But we controlled the game well and it was a super goal from Nathan Tyson.
"At the start of the second half we didn't keep possession and they tested us. We should have been launching an attack to get a second goal, but instead we let them get the goal.
"The scoreline is a reflection of how hard we had to work."
The winners of the replay will meet Premiership strugglers Charlton Athletic in next month's third round.
