Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood accepted that his side had not deserved to take anything from a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Sheffield United.
A Brian Howard goal proved decisive at the City Ground, with Forest remaining entrenched in the Championship relegation places as a result.
Calderwood commented: "We got ourselves behind and in the first half we were below par individually and we suffered the consequences because of it.
"The difference in performance from Saturday was alarming and we failed to do the necessary things.
"We did better in the second half, but we had a poor night with the ball and struggled to create chances.
"We were second-best for a lot of the time and they were dominant for large periods.
"They were on the front foot and we were forced to go long and chase the ball. They worked as a unit, but we played like individuals."
