Month out for Gerrard

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Paul Gerrard is facing a month on the sidelines after being told he needs surgery to repair damage to his knee.

The 33-year-old suffered the injury during the 3-0 loss at his former club Oldham on February 15 and will go under the knife next week.

Forest physio Gary Fleming told the club's official website: "Paul has got a torn meniscus cartilage and he basically needs a clean-up but he has also strained the medial ligament.

"He has been pencilled in for his operation next Thursday and then he's looking at four to five weeks out after that."

Rune Pedersen will continue to deputise in goal in Gerrard's absence, after keeping a clean sheet as Forest began the post-Gary Megson era with a 2-0 win at Port Vale last weekend.
