McKenna out for season

Nottingham Forest's campaign to win promotion to the Premier League has suffered a blow with the news that their captain, midfielder Paul McKenna, will be out until the summer with a knee ligament injury.

Reds manager Billy Davies was in a downbeat mood when he announced the news of the injury, which was sustained against Swansea earlier this month.

"He is finished," Davies said flatly. "I don't think he will make the play-offs - I think he is done.

"The last player we could have afforded to lose this season was him.

"I think we could have afforded to lose any other player in the side this season - apart from McKenna. That is why it is such a blow."
