LOan signings not the answer - Davies

Boss Billy Davies has warned that Nottingham Forest cannot afford to fall back on the loan market if they fail to make permanent signings before the transfer window closes.Davies insists he needs `three or four stellar signings` if the Reds are to build on last season`s third-placed finish. But the Scot believes temporary signings will not fill the void he feels still remains in his squad."The loan window is not an option for this club to go down and progress," said Davies. "The loan window is very appropriate for the situation we were in during the season before last, when we were hanging on for survival and had one foot in the grave when it came to relegation."This is a different situation. We are talking about a club that has finished third in the Championship and for me, unless you are bringing in players of the quality of Craig Bellamy and Jason Koumas on loan it is not worth it."I have experienced and suffered in the loan market enough already over the years. If you are building a young team and building a squad, then you have to build on the wonderful foundations we have laid already."There is no point in us not doing that now because we have put the work in."
