Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Holt will be forced to undergo surgery on a knee injury if the condition deteriorates.
The 33-year-old has been playing through pain from a cartilage problem, but Forest boss Colin Calderwood accepts that an operation will eventually be required, which will sideline Holt for around a month.
He told the club's official website: "Gary has a little problem in one of his knees.
"He has a tear in a cartilage that at the moment is not bad enough to stop him playing or training.
"We're aware of it and have to just be a little bit careful. We have pencilled in dates for him to have surgery.
"They could be brought forward or put back, but at the moment he's prepared to play on through a little bit of discomfort."
