Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood has snapped up the French teenager Mickael Darnet on a one-year contract.
The 18-year-old striker moves to the City Ground from AS Cannes after impressing in the recent pre-season games against Sheffield United and Burton Albion.
Calderwood told Forest's official website: "Mickael played very well for the reserves against Sheffield United last week and scored two goals.
"The Burton game was an opportune moment to give him a game with more senior members of the squad in front of a crowd. I think he'll learn and benefit from playing against Burton but I think we'll look for improvement as well.
"He's a tough little character. He's obviously quiet to a degree because he's not fluent in the language, but he's learning English at the moment, along with Guy Moussi, and we have Hamza Bencherif in the dressing room to help them both."
