Forest land Shorey on loan

Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey has joined Nottingham Forest on a short-term loan deal.

The 28-year-old full-back has joined the Championship club until December 28 following a frustrating period down the pecking order at Villa Park.

Shorey, who has won two caps for England, has started just three Premier League games for the Midlands club this season.

"We're delighted," Forest boss Billy Davies told his club's official website. "There's no doubting the lad's ability and what he has done in his career.

"I've admired him since his days at Reading and followed his progression through to the national side.

"Nicky is a fantastic addition to the squad."

Shorey could make his Forest debut against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday as regular left-back Chris Cohen will be suspended.
