Forest hoping for Shorey stay

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has admitted that his Championship high-flyers are in discussions with Aston Villa over Nicky Shorey's immediate future.

The former Reading left-back has enjoyed a highly successful loan period at the City Ground and with his temporary deal due at an end on Thursday, Davies is hoping for a resolution.

Davies said: "We are in conversation with Aston Villa.

"We thank them very much for loaning us Nicky - he has shown himself to be an exemplary professional.

"We will wait and see where the conversation goes."

Forest can go level on points with Newcastle United at the top of the table if they defeat QPR, but they will be without the suspended Shorey, who was dismissed against former club Reading on January 16.
