Forest held by spirited United

Leeds fought back from a shaky opening spell to claim a deserved 1-1 draw against npower Championship rivals Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.Forest stormed out of the blocks in their first home game of the season and spurned clear-cut chances either side of Dexter Blackstock's ninth-minute opener. However, Billy Davies' men were made to pay for not taking full advantage of their early dominance as Leeds levelled through Lloyd Sam and it was the visitors who appeared more likely to grab a winner during a scrappy second half.Blackstock nodded Forest ahead from Chris Gunter's first-time cross and Robert Earnshaw hit the post soon after as the hosts carved open the Leeds defence at will in the first 20 minutes. However, United weathered the storm and equalised nine minutes before the break when Sam met Bradley Johnson's superb left-wing cross with a well-placed header.Forest full-back Gunter was lucky to escape a red card in the closing stages after petulantly stamping on the foot of Leeds forward Sanchez Watt.
