Davies plays down Forest rise

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies refuses to believe that his side can maintain their push for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

A 5-1 thrashing of Leicester City pushed Forest up to third place in the table, but Davies is refusing to get too carried away.

He told the Evening Post: "If you look at the squads at certain clubs in this league and the spending of other clubs, I believe we probably sit around tenth or 11th in the division.

"Some clubs carry huge squads, which we have not got. We are just trying to play catch-up at the minute - we are punching above our weight.

"We have used 18 players this season and I am grateful to the board for the backing we had in the summer. But the one thing we are not is a big-spending side.

"If you look at our squad, we are still very much playing catch-up in comparison to at least ten other teams in the division and we need to make additions again in January."
