Davies hope for Majewski

Boss Billy Davies has backed Radoslaw Majewski to start making a big impact for Nottingham Forest again this season as the Pole benefits from a rest.

Davies admits that the midfielder played more games than he had expected during his debut campaign last year following his loan move from Polonia Warsaw. After being a first-team regular last season - and sealing a permanent £1million switch to the City Ground - Majewski has been a more peripheral figure in the last few months.

However, Davies has revealed that this had been an intentional move to allow the 23-year-old to rest and the Scot believes Forest are reaping the rewards now, with Majewski playing an integral role in the last three games.

"Because he was a young player coming into a side in a new country, we did not expect him to play that regularly last season as he had to learn all about Championship football," Davies told the Nottingham Post.

"But he has come in and made a great impact early on. He played a bigger part than we had anticipated.

"Young players go through highs and lows and sometimes you have to take them out of the firing line. You have to let them take a big breath, look at things from afar. And, when they come back in, they are firing on all cylinders. That is exactly what has happened to Radi."
