Clingan out for the season
05 Mar 2007 - 13:44:08
Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood has tipped Lewis McGugan to be an adequate replacement for the injured Sammy Clingan as the club bids to clinch promotion from League One.
Clingan will miss the rest of the season after being stretchered off in the opening minutes of the 5-1 victory against Huddersfield Town with a broken ankle.
"He (McGugan) had a nice start and has forced his way into the first-team group, but that's testimony to the academy here," said Calderwood.
"The need for new players is lessened to a degree because of the way Lewis played - lessened to quite a large degree, in fact.
"He'll score goals. He's got power from the edge of the box and he showed what he's got and it lessens the loss of Sammy."
