Calderwood sticks with youth

Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has pledged to give youth a chance despite their promotion to the Championship. Calderwood promoted several graduates of the club's academy system, including Emile Sinclair and Mark Byrne, to the first team last season and has vowed to do the same despite the club's rise to a higher division. "Evolution happens in a football squad and sometimes what makes people leave is the progression of the youngsters," he said. "I think that is a very positive aspect of last season that should not be forgotten about in terms of everyone being desperate to go and bring in additions to the club. "The opportunity for those players should not be hidden or unavailable to them because we have gone up a division. "They should still have the same opportunity they had last year and that is an important factor. The structure of the club is excellent."
