Nottingham Forest captain Ian Breckin is hoping the League One promotion hopefuls can tie striker Jack Lester down to a new contract in the summer.
The 31-year-old has netted eight goals this season, but is out of contract at the end of the term and Breckin is worried that Lester will move on.
He told the Evening Post: "I hope he can get something sorted out. The way he's playing at the moment, he's proving that he deserves it.
"He's had a few bad injuries, but he's a fantastic player.
"In the last ten or 15 games when he's had a run in the team, he's been superb. He's been the difference in a lot of the games and scored some fantastic goals.
"He never gives you a minute and at the moment he's one of our best players. He's got a bit of quality about him."
