Nottingham Forest will be without Julian Bennett for around a month after scans revealed the defender's hamstring injury was more serious than first thought.
Bennett, 22, missed Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Walsall with a hamstring problem which has now been diagnosed as a tear.
The left-back is expected to be out of action until the new year.
"The scan showed that there is a big tear," manager Colin Calderwood told the club's official website.
"The physios will treat the symptoms because it can sometimes be deceptive."
