Owls Versus Forest: Looking Upwards?

Both sides go into Saturday's televised fixture in upbeat mood after some good recent results

Whereas Nottingham Forest have received a huge boost from the return of Billy Davies to the club after a season of managerial upheaval, Sheffield Wednesday look to be reaping the benefits of sticking with a boss who looked to be on shaky ground earlier in the campaign.

Dave Jones, having guided the Owls into the Championship last season and then got them off to a flier in 2012/13, saw his side suffer a long winless streak and, with chairman Milan Mandaric not shy of a sacking, was being talked about as the next managerial casualty around Christmas time.

The former Cardiff and Wolves boss, however, has outlasted both Sean O'Driscoll and Alex McLeish and begun to show again that at Championship level he ranks alongside Davies in his ability to fashion a competitive side.

Loan signings such as Danny Pugh and Leroy Lita have made a big impact and a new-found steeliness to the Owls was shown by last Saturday's 1-0 home win against Crystal Palace.
