Defensive poser for Davies

Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies has a defensive headache as his side prepare to host Ipswich.

Skipper Danny Collins had to be substituted against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday after a clash with Jermaine Johnson left him with blurred vision.

Greg Halford serves the second match of his three-game ban while Davies says Daniel Ayala and Sam Hutchinson are at least another week away from full fitness.

Jamaal Lascelles replaced Collins on the day and could start alongside Elliott Ward if none of the other players recover in time.

Striker Darius Henderson remains doubtful having missed the trip to Hillsborough so Simon Cox and Dexter Blackstock will continue in attack.

Forest currently lie four points off sixth place and are unbeaten in the four games since Davies returned in the hotseat.

Ipswich captain Carlos Edwards is a doubt for the club's trip.

Edwards, 34, who has only missed one single game this season, is struggling with a groin injury sustained in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Leicester.

Boss Mick McCarthy told the club's official website: "He has been excellent for us but I don't want to be in a situation where we play him in one game and he misses the next three or four.

"He's shown a remarkable level of fitness, especially given his age but he's got some inflammation in the groin area and is a doubt."

On-loan striker David McGoldrick bagged the late winner against Leicester but he is ineligible for the fixture against his parent club.
