Kelly: Players were ready for break

Championship clubs have had to contend with two bursts of seven matches in 21 days so far this season. Ahead of his former club Newcastle's visit to the City Ground at the weekend, Kelly said: "We have had time for some rest and given the players a few days off, which is important because they were ready for it. "We have had such a busy schedule, this league is a bit mad, where we have so many games and then a break, then so many more games and a break, before getting into a period of one game a week." Forest went into the break on the back of three straight wins which moved them to within a point of the play-off places but Kelly insists the Reds were playing well long before that run. "The form has been quite consistent really. We have played some super stuff against Blackpool, Blackburn and West Brom and just not had the results, but the last three results were fantastic and the performances were good too," he said. "We have had some excellent performances so far and we can only look at the next game now, which is Newcastle."
