Kelly: Hard work has paid off

Assistant manager David Kelly has revealed how hard work on the training ground helped Lewis McGugan propel Nottingham Forest to victory against Middlesbrough. McGugan is enjoying something of a renaissance having been out of the team for much of last season and his sixth goal of this campaign fired Forest to a 1-0 home win on Tuesday night. The midfielder scored a superb free-kick, bending an angled shot inside the post from wide on the left-hand side of the penalty area. And Kelly revealed how practice had made perfect for McGugan. "It was a great strike but the best thing about it was that he had been working on it in training on Monday," said Kelly. "It was a shot, without a doubt. We had looked at how they defended from set-plays and corners and we thought we might have an opportunity. We had a word with Luke Chambers and got him to go over and tell Lewis to have a shot, as he had been practising. "He could not have hit it better, but to be fair to Lewis he has magic in his boots at the minute."
