Ipswich boss on Forest transfer targets

Paul Jewell was keen on signing both Guy Moussi and George Boateng in the summer

The midfield pair instead committed to Nottingham Forest, Moussi signing a new contract and Boateng opting to link up with his former Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren.

Ahead of Saturday's game between Ipswich and the Reds, Portman Road manager Jewell told the Green 'Un: "We did try and get Moussi but I understand his sister didn’t want him to move to Ipswich!.

"That’s what his agent told us apparently, something about his sister or his mum – maybe it was both – talking him out of the move."

He added: "We had George on trial, but obviously Steve knew him from his Middlesbrough days so that’s presumably why he chose them."
