Speaking to BBC Midlands the on-loan Stoke City defender praised the 'Premier League' set-up that exists at the club, the quality of players such as Garath McCleary and the dressing-room spirit that has been built up by Steve Cotterill.
Higginbotham was one of a number of loan signings made by Cotterill to help keep the Reds in the Championship and the impact made by the likes of Greg Cunningham and Adlene Guedioura.
"At one stage, we could have had Jose Mourinho in charge here and we would have lost matches because we could not put a back four together," said Cotterill. "We can do that now and it has helped us a lot and that has been key to the turnaround.
"The loan players have helped unbelievably because we have defenders on the pitch. We would not have gone on the run that we have if we did not get those loan players in.
