The 20-year-old full-back made his switch to the City Ground permanent this week, and despite playing in the Premier League for Tottenham, he felt Forest's relegation plight was his biggest learning curve.
"I learned a lot here last season. They were the biggest pressure games I was involved in, battling for Forest against relegation," Gunter told the Nottingham Evening Post.
"Those games were just as big as if we are going for promotion at the end of this season.
"That can only help, and looking back it's a good thing for the players to all have been involved in."
