Gunter confident Forest can challenge
The City Ground club are hovering perilously close to the drop zone after claiming just one win from eight league outings.
Forest were in thick of the relegation dogfight last season before finishing 18th in the table but Gunter is confident there will be no repeat this time around.
The Welsh international told the Nottingham Evening Post: "Our squad is good enough to challenge for something at the top end this season and that is what we are still aiming for.
"There is always one team who makes a surge up the table in the Championship. Blackpool won two games recently and all of a sudden they were seventh in the league.
"And, with the way we are playing and the players we have, we are perfectly capable of stringing together a few wins. If we can do that the picture will soon change. But we deserve that, we deserve a bit of luck to go our way."
