Forest stars not up to speed - BD
The Reds host Premier League newcomers Birmingham in a pre-season friendly on Saturday before beginning their Championship campaign with a difficult game at Reading on 8 August.
Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's important that some of our players get games. It is important to get Joe Garner some games and (David) McGoldrick has work to do too.
"Along with one or two other guys, we know we have got a week or so of hard work ahead."
