Winger Davies, 25 - signed from Yeovil as part of a £1million deal along with Chris Cohen in July 2007 - and Academy product Thornhill, 21, returned to Forest last week after Brighton boss Gus Poyet cut short their loan spells with the League One club.[LNB]Forest manager Billy Davies believes a permanent move in the new year could be in the best interests of everyone.[LNB]"I have spoken to several players and the last thing I want to do is stop them progressing their careers," said Davies, when asked about the duo.[LNB]"Sometimes you find yourself at a football club at the wrong time and sometimes you have to take two steps backwards to take three forwards.[LNB]"We have good young players here who need to move on and who need to go and have a fresh start. There are players here who need to move on to kick-start their careers because I can't see them getting in the side here in the next couple of months.[LNB]"We don't want to waste their time. Over the next two or three weeks, we will be making some tough decisions to benefit them and the club."[LNB][LNB]
