Forest loan ace back with Blues
The 26-year-old was due to remain at the City Ground until the end of the season, but has returned to St Andrew's prematurely and will now undergo surgery.
Forest boss Billy Davies has not ruled out making a permanent switch for the former Coventry man once he regains full fitness.
He said: "It certainly is one we'll consider because he has an abundance of talent.
"He was a joy to work with, a first-class, lad."
