Forest for promotion - the key dates

Where will the battle for a top two finish be won and lost? Despite Billy Davies attempting to keep a lid on expectations, his side's march up the Championship table sees them being quoted as short as 4/5 for automatic promotion back to the top flight. The Reds lie in 2nd place following the narrow win over Watford and have games in hand over the next six teams in the table. Forest Mad looks at the key games to come, starting this Sunday when Davies takes his side to Loftus Road to face leaders Queens Park Rangers. The R's have been lauded for the quality of some of their football this season, playmaker Adel Taarabt in particular, but showed their mettle when winning away to Reading on Friday night when down to ten men. Cardiff City revived their automatic promotion hopes at the weekend when winning the South Wales derby and come to the City Ground on February 19. Swansea lost out to Cardiff in Sunday's game but retain high hopes of going up as do a resurgent Leeds United. Forest face successive away trips to the Liberty Stadium and Elland Road as the season enters the business end at the end of March and beginning of April. And climbing rapdily up the table are East Midlands rivals Leicester City who backed Sven Goran Eriksson with plenty of transfer market funds in January. One of the clubs earmarked by Davies as being 'better prepared' to mount a promotion push, they come to the City Ground for what should be a feisty derby on April 23.
