For all the early talk of another big name manager being brought in to replace Steve McClaren, the Reds are looking at bringing back former boss Hart to the club from Charlton, where he is currently academy director.
That leaves the appointment of a 'coach' type figure to have responsibility for first team matters and work alongside Hart.
Names in the frame at present include Kevin MacDonald, first-team coach at Aston Villa, Sheffield United academy boss John Pemberton and former Barnsley manager Mark Robins.
