Earnshaw returns to haunt Bluebirds

Former Cardiff striker Robert Earnshaw struck against his former club as Nottingham Forest stole a march on one of their promotion rivals and returned to winning ways with a 2-1 triumph at the City Ground. The Reds missed an opportunity to go second in the npower Championship following a surprise defeat at struggling Scunthorpe in midweek. But Billy Davies' side, aided by Norwich drawing at Leeds, made no such mistake this time round and replaced the Bluebirds behind leaders QPR. Defender Wes Morgan put Forest ahead with his first goal of the season just after the half-hour mark. Peter Whittingham equalised from the penalty spot in the 64th minute but Earnshaw won it for Forest three minutes later to extend the Reds' proud unbeaten home run to 35 league games - a record which stretches back to September 2009.
