Doughty aiming high

Chairman Nigel Doughty insists the aim for Nottingham Forest this season is promotion. Doughty, who has been chairman for eight years, admits he was surprised by Forest's surge to third place in the Championship last season. But he is aiming even higher this time around. "There is only one goal this season and that is promotion," Doughty told the club`s official website. "The money that has gone in and the backing that we have given - that is what we are aiming for. The goal is promotion. "We are the largest spending club in the Championship over the last three or four years. "Never in my wildest dreams did I expect a promotion push last season. I think we felt that we might do well, perhaps a sixth to eighth-placed finish or an outside chance of a play-off place. "But to go on the run that we went on from October onwards, breaking so many records, I don't think we ever felt that was possible. We thought this was the year, if anything."
