Davies wants long-term Forest deal

The Scot made an impressive start to life in the City Ground hot-seat last term, guiding the Reds to Championship safety. He has been backed in the transfer market over the summer, with a host of fresh faces making their way to Trentside during the transfer window. That has helped to raise expectations at Forest, with the club tipped to challenge for a top-half finish this season. The ultimate aim, though, is to secure a return to the Premier League, with the Reds having spent the last decade outside of the top flight. Davies believes he is the man to guide the club back into the big time, but insists he needs the full support of those above him if he is to fulfil that ambition. "If the board are prepared to give me a five to 10-year contract and say, 'we trust you very much', I would certainly recommend certain things as I have with the first-team," he said. "I have another two years on my existing contract, but we know that means nothing. "The one thing I have to say I am disappointed about is what's coming through the academy, the back up. We've not got enough quality coming through." On Forest's promotion aspirations, Davies added: "I have that in mind, the club's heading in the right direction and we're in the right situation. "But we'll lose a lot of quality in certain areas until we have a settled side."
